Grand Chief Peters is Lenape from the Delaware Nation Moravian of the Thames and is a member of the Turtle Clan.

Gord has worked with First Nations both politically and non-politically for 35 years. He currently holds the position of Grand Chief for the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI), and actively participates in the political realm within his own community serving as an elected Councillor.

Gord previously served as the Ontario Regional Chief for 12 years, representing 133 First Nations through the Chiefs of Ontario as well the Education Director for AIAI.
